We all grew up reading, learning and enjoying those immortal words penned by Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota, be it from our course books or from reading for pleasure and looking back, you will realize that there aren’t enough words to fully praise his great work which absolutely molded the shape of Nepali literature. However, all we can do is at least try and that’s exactly what was done at Mahakavi Devkota Satabdi Samman, held on Sunday 24th Magh, 2066.

Well, the highly valued honours were presented to a number of personalities for their contribution in Nepali literature.  To begin with, Mr Santa Das Manandhar and Mrs Bhuwaneshwori Satyal, who for years had been writing for children’s books, received the title. Social worker Hema Manandhar was one of the recipients and most importantly, the honour went out to radio presenter Hem Subedi, who also received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. It was all to appreciate his work of broadcasting the biography of the great poet through Radio Kantipur. It reached a one year mark. On the other hand, even students from many different schools were given Baal Kavya Puraskar to encourage their interest and contribution to art and literature.

Like we mentioned earlier, all we can do is attempt to appreciate the impeccable creations by Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota and we can all be proud of the fact that for the first time, his entire life story is being released in a CD. It is going to be launched at International Literature Conference taking place in Chaitra. Knowing even a single new thing from him can help us a lot for he is truly immortal to each and every one of us.
