Profile

Passion is Arya's middle name and he continues his quest to better himself. He has proved his versatility right from the start recording his debut effort Arya in 3 languages – Nepali (his mother tongue), English and Hindi. Not only that he writes, sings and composes. His Nepali and English singles have already received airplay on radio stations in Kathmandu like Hits FM 91.2 and his music videos are doing the rounds on Nepali TV channels (Kantipur TV, Image Channel, CEC) as well. This time he's all set to showcase his first music video for a Hindi song – Tere Bina. The obvious question to Arya, on meeting him, was why he decided to record in Hindi? The answer was not surprising.

Arya: I just love music irrespective of the language it is voiced in. And growing up, I always loved Hindi music as much as I loved Nepali and English music. I want to grow as an artist who has no color, caste, creed or territorial boundaries. I had already penned down lyrics in Hindi for "Maya" and during my visit to Mumbai I got an opportunity to team up with Music Director Pranaay and recorded the Hindi version of "Maya". Now that the video is ready I can't help but be inquisitive as to how it will be received.

Arya is a struggling artist but very positive and hard working. He doesn't wait for things to happen; he makes them happen. He is not a new face in the ANA Conventions held annually in the US for the Nepali diaspora. And so even this year he set out to try his luck and do what he does best – perform in front of an audience. It was a special moment for him because he performed for Indian music lovers as well and he mentions that he was received very well and even managed to sell his hindi album.

There's a lot of roles an artist has to play and Arya, a bundle of energy, being the optimist he believes nothing is impossible. And so he tried his hands at directing his first music video. It was a grueling task but he found confidence and trust in the hands of the Pixel Arc team, Laxan and a fabulous pool of actors that you will get to see in the video. Plenty of flare-ups but overall the mood during the whole shoot was festive. Arya has more to say.

Arya: Making the video was a challenge. Coming up with a storyboard, then getting the elements together, casting, finding the location and the biggest challenge of all was getting the vision caught in film. I am so glad I got to team up with Pixel Arc, Teri, friends from Hits FM 91.2 (where Arya worked as an RJ), Laxan (from Colour Cubes) who saw the vision I had and made it possible. Besides the hurdles that came our way, the shooting was a lot of fun. We ended up going a little over budget but then we also wanted results. Now that the video is ready I can actually say that it was all worth it.

Since we were shooting an Indian video we created a few familiar Bollywood characters as well. The featured characters were:
